‘Ai Pono has over 35 years of experience and is the longest running, most comprehensive eating disorder treatment program in Hawaii. They provide customized eating disorder treatment for women ages 18+. ‘Ai Pono offers resident treatment, PHP, and outpatient programming. In addition, ‘Ai Pono offers virtual IOP for those located within the state of Hawaii. ‘Ai Pono focuses on the relationship between food and specific eating disorders by using a holistic approach to uncover and address the root of the eating disorder. They also address any co-occurring issues that may impact the eating disorder such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and body dysmorphia. ‘Ai Pono offers a variety of holistic therapies including DBT, process groups, art therapy, EMDR, life skills, emotional freedom technique (EFT), and yoga. The residential program involves psychotherapy sessions 2-3 times weekly and psychoeducational groups weekly. Educational topics can include nutrition education and trauma education, when appropriate. Family involvement is encouraged and will be supported as needed. Nutrition therapy is provided daily and includes supervised meals and snacks. Clients receive individual sessions with a registered dietitian once a week. Most meals are prepared by an in-house chef to meet the specific needs of each client.
‘Ai Pono is located on the beautiful island of Maui, Hawaii. The boutique home is nested in the center of the quiet Wailuku town. The traditional Japanese style housing provides a sense of calmness and tranquility. In addition, the vaulted ceilings and open floor plan allow for an abundance of natural light. ‘Ai Pono’s idyllic location enables clients to participate in off-site excursions. Clients can enjoy trips to local beaches, sacred cultural sites such as the nearby Iao Valley, the beautiful Kula lavender farm, prominent shopping destinations, and more. Ai Pono also has a private backyard beach perfect for mindful walks. ‘Ai Pono is a top-notch facility that provides a compassionate staff and beautiful location.
