Their mission is to enhance the quality of life for adults with chronic mental illness by maintaining a community in which they can live with dignity and independence as they pursue leisure activities, social relationships, and meaningful work. Lakewood Center has a trained 24-hour staff that provides a wide range of psychiatric care services. Their clients have recreational opportunities, wellness programs, and a Therapeutic Work Program. Caring staff can help residents with budget assistance, coordination of doctors appointments, and correspondence with family. Lakewood’s therapeutic program includes supportive counseling, medication monitoring and observation, crisis management, psychoeducational programming, daily therapy groups, development of individualized structure, and meaningful daily activities. Lakewood also offers social and recreational activities including fitness programs, arts and crafts, basketball, swimming, and pontoon boat rides. Therapeutic adventure outings can include beaches, parks, and museums.
