Key Healthcare offers various levels of care to meet the needs of adolescents who have substance use disorders and mental health conditions. Their goal is to help teens get back on track by drawing on their strengths in order to realize their potential for happiness and success. They offer a 45-60 day residential program in a luxury home in Malibu. This program is for any teens with mental health or substance use issues that cannot be managed in an outpatient setting. Mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, gender or sexual orientation concerns, self-esteem issues, self-harm and suicidality can all be addressed in treatment. Key provides online education for each teen while in treatment. Each day, the teens start out with 3 hours of schooling before diving into counseling sessions. After school, Key provides individual and/or group counseling and family-centered treatment. Through the use of evidence-based therapies, teens can explore their own emotions, relate to others and learn new coping skills to move forward. Additionally, Key uses holistic therapies like yoga, surf therapy, hiking and art therapy to help reduce stress and gain greater self-awareness.
For teens who don’t need inpatient treatment, Key provides intensive outpatient (IOP) and partial hospitalization programs (PHP). These programs offers a structured, therapeutic environment either throughout the day or for a few hours at night, depending on the teen’s needs. In addition to 1-on-1 counseling and group therapy, teens learn recovery skills and participate in family sessions weekly to give them the boost they need before stepping down to outpatient treatment. Key also offers an extended care program for teen boys, which is a combination of PHP and sober living. In this program, boys are given the opportunity to develop life skills and build relationships that can help ensure sobriety. They also attend daily 12-Step meetings, participate in household chores and fitness activities.
